Rishabh Pant in serious doubts for 50 overs World Cup later in the year

Xtra Time Web Desk:Team India star wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant runs the risk of missing the 50 overs World Cup later this year. Pant will have to undergo another ligament surgery in another six weeks. He is likely to miss at least 8-9 months of action which will make him doubtful for the World Cup later in the year.

The wicket-keeper batter from Delhi will also miss these series:

India vs New Zealand (3 ODIs, 3 T20s) in January-February

India vs Australia (4 Tests & 3 ODIs) in February-March

IPL 2023 (April-May)

World Test Championship Final (If India qualifies) in June

India Tour of West Indies in July

Asia Cup 2023 in September

Pant underwent a ligament surgery recently under the supervision of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. The operation went on for almost three hours. According to reports the doctors reconstructed Pant’s posterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament. However, doctors did not go ahead with the reconstruction of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament. He will go under the knife after another six weeks.

Pant’s return to action will depend on his rehab and the training he undergoes once he is discharged from the hospital. Pant is likely to be discharged from the hospital next week. In the coming days, he will be made to walk with the help of a walker and support. But he will once again return to hospital in six weeks’ time for the 2nd surgery.

The wicket-keeper batter suffered a horrific road accident on December 30, on Delhi-Dehradun National Highway.
