Oklahoma football has a penchant for adding brothers. This year, they will have the Bowen brothers (Peyton and Eli) on campus; last year, they had the McCulloughs, Dasan, and Daeh.
And as we look ahead to 2025, the Sooners could have the Hawkins brothers on campus together. That is if we are to believe that the crystal ball prediction from Sooners Illustrated’s Collin Kennedy will come to fruition.
Monday afternoon, Kennedy dropped the prediction with pretty significant confidence. The level seven is the highest level of confidence most insiders predict. That should ring some alarm bells that Oklahoma has surged in front of the pack for Maliek Hawkins.

Maliek is a 6-foot-2 cornerback prospect from Frisco Emerson High School in Texas. He plays a tenacious brand of cornerback, and his size is very enticing. He may be a potential option for safety down the road. That level of versatility is always a bonus.
Hawkins’ recruitment has become a regional affair, with Texas and Texas A&M being the only other significant schools that seem to have a fighting chance.
The Sooners should win out if it comes down to OU and picking one of those schools. It would be pretty hard for an athlete to turn down playing on the same college team as his brother and donning the same colors his father wore.
There is no timetable for a decision or any top five or ten lists. So Oklahoma will have to continue to run the race and keep the pressure on the younger Hawkins’ brother while allowing his brother and father to help sway him.
