6 College Football Games to Watch During Penn State’s Bye Week

A time to heal and enjoy a stress-free Saturday of college football.

Just a reminder- no Big Ten games will be included below as they have been covered in Thursday’s conference preview.

Clemson at Syracuse
7 p.m., ESPN (Friday)

Syracuse has a history of giving Clemson all they can handle. This year could be even more interesting as the talent gap is pretty even. Unless Clemson’s offense wakes up and returns to form, this will be a great way to start your football weekend.
Prediction: Syracuse-21, Clemson-20

(#12)Oklahoma State at (#25)Texas
Noon, FOX

Did you see the Red River Shootout on Saturday? The instant classic had some of the wildest moments you’ll see on the gridiron. Regardless of how you feel about Texas, they are a massively entertaining team to watch. It will be no different this week with Oklahoma State coming to town.
Prediction: Texas-38, Oklahoma State-35

Auburn at (#17)Arkansas
Noon, CBS

Arkansas is coming off two consecutive loses after an outstanding 4-0 start to the season that included victories over #15 Texas and #7 Texas A&M. If they can get past the Tigers, the schedule sets up nicely for them to make a quality bowl game in a season that started with almost zero expectations outside of Fayettville. Auburn will not be easy to get past, as they have a physical defense and strong running game. Both teams will fight like hell to come out with a win.
Prediction: Arkansas-24, Auburn-21

(#11)Kentucky at (#1)Georgia
3:30 p.m., CBS

Will Levis and the Wildcats keep making me look foolish. Two weeks ago I predicted Florida in a blowout, but Kentucky pulled off the upset at home. Last week I had them narrowly getting past LSU, only for them to put a beatdown on the Tigers. They will need to pull off another - and much more shocking - surprise this time around. The Bulldogs appear to have an all-time defense, but the Wildcats could be put together to pull off the massive upset thanks to a stout defense and an offense that is built to churn out yards and keep the opposing offense on the sideline.
Prediction: Georgia-21, Kentucky-17

(#19)BYU at Baylor
3:30 p.m., ESPN

Both teams have exceeded expectations and are looking to avoid their second loss of the season. Penn State fans likely don’t have strong feelings on either program, so this is a chance to just kick back and enjoy what should be a great game of college football between two quality teams.
Prediction: BYU-31, Baylor-26

TCU at (#4)Oklahoma
7:30 p.m., ABC

Oklahoma has made a living out of playing ever so slightly above the level of competition. Of the five FBS teams they’ve faced thus far, the Sooners have won by an average of 5.2 points, with no games being won by more than a touchdown. TCU comes in hot after defeating Texas Tech 52-31, and should be yet another challenge for the undefeated Sooners.
Prediction: Oklahoma—30, TCU-27
