Best left tackle in Penn State’s history?
One of the best offensive tackles in program history — Olu Fasanu — is calling it a career in the Blue and White. After putting off the NFL to earn his degree, Fashanu (with his degree in hand) declared for the 2024 NFL Draft earlier this afternoon.

While Fashanu didn’t announce that he’ll be sitting out or playing in the Peach Bowl, the ambiguity is probably for good reason. Even if he does “play” it will likely only be for a series or two, with the Nittany Lions wanting to give next year’s starting left tackle, Drew Shelton, plenty of reps.
Fashanu will end his Penn State career as a two-year starter, and one of the more dominant left tackles the program has seen. He earned first-team All-American status this season, becoming just the 102nd Nittany Lion to do so. Not too shabby for a three-star prospect — though, we here at BSD thought much higher of him.
Fashanu is widely projected to be a Top 10 pick, and has a pretty good shot at going in the Top 5. Of course we have biases here, but Fashanu really does not have much downside. He’s a fantastic pass blocker and run blocker, has a lanky-yet-sturdy frame, and *just* turned 21 years old. Not to mention, he’s a tremendously smart kid who was up for the academic Heisman this past season.
