The Oklahoma Sooners earned a doubleheader run-rule sweep of Tarleton State on Tuesday, outscoring the Texans 20-1 in the process.
In the first game, Kelly Maxwell through a five-inning no-hitter. She struck out seven and didn’t walk a single batter. It was a strong performance for the veteran pitcher.
Maxwell was aided by a leadoff home run from Jayda Coleman, who was back in the leadoff spot for the first time in a while. Coleman took the first pitch and sent it over the wall in left-center.
Cydney Sanders also continued her incredible run in March by launching two more home runs and driving in seven runs. She now leads the Sooners in home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, walks, and has improved her batting average to .390. She’s having a resurgent season.
The Sooners continue their season this weekend in Lubbock with a three-game series against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
