While the on the field train may be coming off the rails, the Nittany Lion recruiting train continues to chug along
VISITORS TO CAMPUS
Saturday afternoon the Nittany Lions suffered an embarrassing loss against Illinois. However, there were multiple noteworthy recruits on campus including five-star 2023 offensive line commit Alex Birchmeier.

Birchmeier is arguably the top offensive lineman in the 2023 recruiting class. While he is committed to the Nittany Lions, any time they get him on campus it will continue to be a plus.
Joining Birchmeier on campus and for the photo were 2022 commits Drew Shelton, Kaden Saunders and Nick Singleton. As well as 2023 offensive line target Joshua Miller. Right now, Miller’s recruitment appears to be a battle between Penn State and Clemson.
Another notable visitor to campus was 2024 defensive back Ellis Robinson IV.

Robinson IV hails from Iona Prep School in New Rochelle, New York, and is currently ranked as the 4th best prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He has already been a repeat visitor to campus and is expected to be back before the end of the season. Early on, the Nittany Lions appear to be in a great spot for Robinson IV.
2022 DEFENSIVE BACK NO LONGER PART OF THE CLASS
After Saturday afternoon, three-star Luisiana defensive back Jordan Allen is no longer a member of Penn State’s 2022 recruiting class.

While Allen officially announced his de-commitment on Monday morning he was removed from the recruiting class over the weekend. This was due to Allen taking an official visit to Ole Miss on Saturday. James Franklin and his staff have a policy about commits not taking visits elsewhere. Obviously, a commit visit elsewhere will not lead to the Nittany Lion coaching staff dropping them from their class. That said, the staff was under the impression that Allen would not be visiting Ole Miss which is what led to this move.
2022 QB1
Penn State’s quarterback room currently has plenty of question marks. Thankfully, answers are coming. Their 2022 class currently has two highly touted quarterback commits, including Drew Allar who is now a five-star recruit.
247Sports now ranks Allar as the no. 1 quarterback in the 2022 cycle, as well as being the 12th best player in the cycle. This is a well deserved ranking for Allar who possessing elite passing ability and the ability to read and dissect defenses.
Allar would be arguably the most talented quarterback recruit to ever sign with the Nittany Lions. He is a program changing type of talent at the quarterback position. It will be up to James Franklin and his staff to maximize Allar’s ability when he gets to campus in January.
