Get ready for rivalry week.
It’s rivalry week, folks.
While plenty of fans have been waiting all year for matchups like The Game and the Iron Bowl, college football’s penultimate regular-season week wasn’t too shabby. Some giants survived scares and other storylines took sideways turns.
MARYLAND TESTS MICHIGAN
Maryland, which became bowl-eligible by taking down Nebraska last week, gave Michigan a serious run for its money. The Wolverines escaped with a 31-24 victory and will host Ohio State with an unscathed record. Michigan fans even stormed the field at SECU Stadium to celebrate the program’s 1000th win.

Side note: it makes zero sense how Maryland can play Ohio State and Michigan really close every year and then just get blown out by Penn State

WASHINGTON STILL ATOP PAC-12
Washington is beating the Pac-12 cannibalization allegations this year as the Michael Penix Jr.-led Huskies continue to stack impressive wins. A 22-20 victory over Oregon State is just their latest resume booster, and they pulled it off amid terrible conditions.
This Oregon State/Washington game is the exact kind of beautiful mess that the 38-degree and rainy night demands.

Things are getting weird in Washington vs. Oregon State, thanks, in part, to some sloppy weather conditions.

The Huskies lose the ball after the big gain.
But the Beavers would also lose a fumble two plays later.

DUKES NO LONGER UNDEFEATED
Despite an electric atmosphere in Harrisonburg and a College GameDay visit, James Madison could not keep its undefeated season alive. Appalachian State did what it does best and played spoiler to a Cinderella season, toppling the Dukes 26-23 in overtime.

UCLA FLEXES IN BIG TEN MATCHUP
In what may have been Caleb Williams’ last game in the Coliseum, the Trojans crumbled. UCLA came out firing and pulled off an impressive 38-20 as rumors of Chip Kelly getting the ax continue to swirl.

NORTHWESTERN IS GONG BOWLING
So long, Ryan Field. Northwestern is all but officially set to move on from its nearly century-old stadium, and the Wildcats did their best to send it off right. Northwestern clinched bowl eligibility with a 23-15 win over Purdue, and fans stormed the field to pay homage to an unlikely season and their long-time home field.
Northwestern went 1-11 last year, fired their head coach about a month before fall camp, and is now bowl eligible.

Saturday COULD be the last game ever for Ryan Field in its current form. A vote on an $800 million stadium overhaul takes place on Monday. Ryan Field’s look is timeless & few stadiums remain w/ its classic feel. I’ll be there on 11/18 to showcase it, possibly for the final time. pic.twitter.com/293fCgblLL

A gentler ending to Ryan Field than to the previous stadium that NU retired (in 1925), when the students-- and this is true-- TRIED TO SET IT ON FIRE. pic.twitter.com/mVSc3J8b2Y
