To no surprise, the All-Big Ten defensive teams were filled with Penn Staters.
If you watched Penn State football this season, you might have come to the conclusion that the defense was pretty good. As it turned out, the Big Ten coaches and media came to that same conclusion, with 13 Nittany Lion defenders being given All-Big Ten accolades on Monday.

Seven players were named to one of the three teams:
- Chop Robinson: First Team (Coaches & Media)
- Abdul Carter: First Team (Coaches), Second Team (Media)
- Adisa Isaac: First Team (Media), Second Team (Coaches)
- Kalen King: Second Team (Coaches & Media)
- Dani Dennis-Sutton: Third Team (Coaches), Honorable Mention (Media)
- Johnny Dixon: Third Team (Coaches), Honorable Mention (Media)
- Daequan Hardy: Third Team (Coaches), Honorable Mention (Media)
While six other players earned honorable mention honors: Kobe King, Jaylen Reed, KJ Winston, Curtis Jacobs, Zane Durant, and Dvon Ellies.
While on the surface only having seven players get above honorable mention honors might seem a little flat when you consider how great the Penn State defense was, you have to remember: two other really great defenses — Ohio State and Michigan — were also in the conference. The Buckeyes had nine players make one of the three teams, while the Wolverines had eight for themselves. When the three best defenses in the country according to points allowed and yards allowed are all in the same conference, there were going to be some snubs across the board.
In addition to the defensive teams being announced Monday, the special teams units were as well. Kicker Alex Felkins earned Second Team (Media) and Third Team (Coaches) honors, while Daequan Hardy was Second Team return specialist for both the Media and Coaches. Wrapping up the special teams honor for the Nittany Lions was Riley Thompson and Nick Singleton, who both were honorable mention.
