Penn State’s defensive line will return one of its key components in the middle
Penn State entered the 2023 season with questions surrounding the defensive tackle position. Fortunately, those were quickly answered as Dvon Ellies and others quickly proved they were up to the task of defending the trenches as part of one of the nation’s best defenses. There will be one less question that needs addressed heading into 2024, as Ellies has announced he will be back with the Nittany Lions.

Ellies posted 26 tackles, the most of any defensive tackle on the team in 2023, as well as five TFLs in 2023. He has seen his role grow since arriving in 2019 as a four-star prospect who selected Penn State over USC, Ohio State, Florida, Wisconsin and many others as the 112th overall prospect in the class.
Ellies has been a key component of the defensive tackle rotation for the past three seasons, using rare quickness for his 300-lb. frame to create disruptive plays for a Nittany Lions defense. He will now be looked upon as one of the key leaders as Tom Allen takes over as defensive coordinator, following Manny Diaz’s departure to become the head coach at Duke.
