Penn State’s already stellar 2022 recruiting class has a pretty clear crown jewel.
If all goes according to plan, there could be some seriously happy times in Happy Valley in the coming years.
247Sports updated its 2022 prospects rankings on Wednesday morning and with that update came Penn State quarterback commit Drew Allar moving all the way up to the No. 12-ranked player in the country and the nation’s top-ranked quarterback in his class.
Allar has skyrocketed up recruiting boards in the last 18 months and was one of offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich’s top targets the moment he came to Penn State. The Medina, Ohio native has broken records left and right this season and currently has his team ranked as the top team in the state.
He won’t be lacking for weapons at Penn State, either, as the Nittany Lions have landed a slew of highly ranked skill position players in the 2022 class, chief among them is Governor Mifflin (Pa.) product Nicholas Singleton. Singleton, like Allar, is the nation’s top-ranked player at his position and is ranked No. 19 overall in the class. Also similar to Allen, he has his high school ranked as the top team in his classification in Pennsylvania and is breaking Berks County records seemingly weekly.
While James Franklin has found himself at the center of attention when discussing both the LSU and USC openings in recent weeks, it sure seems like he’s got something special brewing in Happy Valley.
