Women’s Volleyball

The volleyball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament with a 3-1 win over Yale. Jess Mruzik led the way with 19 kills, helping the Nittany Lions hit .373% in the match. Taylor Trammell, Zoe Weatherington, and Allie Holland all recorded at least four blocks, and Gillian Grimes added 15 digs.

The Lions will look to advance to the Sweet 16 when they take on Kansas tonight at 6:30.

Women’s Soccer

An outstanding season for the women’s soccer team ended last Saturday with a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Clemson. After a scoreless first half, the Tigers opened the scoring in the 70th minute on a goal from Makenna Morris. Kaitlyn MacBean answered for Penn State just two minutes later to tie the game. With just six minutes left in regulation, Clemson’s Caroline Conti found a crack in the Lions’ defense and scored the game-winning goal. It was a tough loss for Penn State but a hard-fought match between two of the best teams in the country.
