Gators leap upward in NET rankings after huge Quad 1 win over Vols

Florid basketball scored its most important win of the 2022-23 campaign on Wednesday night against the Tennessee Volunteers, turning the tables on the second-ranked team in the country with a 67-54 victory inside the O’Connell Center. Colin Castleton had one of his best offensive efforts this year, exploding in the second half as the Gators fought off a furious rally by the visitors to clinch the Quadrant 1 win.

The triumph over the visiting Vols gave the Orange and Blue a much-needed boost in the NET rankings on Thursday following the win, moving up from No. 52 to No. 41. Florida now has a 2-7 record in Quad 1 games, 1-2 in Quad 2, and 5-0 in both Quad 3 and 4 matchups. Tennessee remained at No. 2 after the loss.

Next up for Florida are the Kentucky Wildcats who host the Gators inside Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, on Saturday, Feb. 4. The ‘Cats have won four in a row after a sluggish start and are currently ranked No. 35 in the NET. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EST and can be followed by watching ESPN or listening to the Gators IMG Sports Network.
