In their win over the Kansas Jayhawks, the Oklahoma Sooners had the fewest pass attempts that they’ve had all season long. The wide receiver production was down, and some of that was due to the limited possessions in the first half, and Kansas did a nice job in coverage to make things difficult for Caleb Williams in the passing game.
The other issue that kept the Sooners passing game at bay was the absence of Michael Woods II and Mario Williams, who missed Saturday’s game with injuries.
In his Tuesday press conference, Lincoln Riley provided an update to two of his leading receivers and their status for Saturday’s game against Texas Tech.
In response to @ryaber, Lincoln Riley said Mario Williams and Mike Woods have a chance to play this week but weren't "honestly very close" versus Kansas. Riley added on Austin Stogner that they "still realize the weapon he is."

Both Mario Williams and Michael Woods are still considered limited by the Oklahoma Sooners coaching staff. Still, per Lincoln Riley, they have a chance to play on Saturday in a pivotal game at home against the Red Raiders.
Woods and Williams are second and third on the team in receptions, and both have two touchdown receptions on the season.
The loss of Woods was significant as he and Caleb Williams had developed a connection in the win over TCU. Woods has started winning down the field more frequently after a bit of a slow start to the season. Mario Williams has been an essential part of the short passing game for the Sooners with his ability to make defenders miss in the open field.
As the Oklahoma Sooners get set for the final stretch of the season, they’re a team that looks to be getting healthier on both sides of the ball down the stretch. As great as Caleb Williams has been, he’ll be greatly aided by the return of two of Oklahoma’s best pass catchers.
