The Ohio State baseball team dominated the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday to take the three-game series, winning by a comfortable 11-1 score in front of the home crowd.
Iowa struck first with its lone run in the first inning after an RBI single to get an early jump on things. But that would be it for the Hawkeyes. Ohio State would strike back in the second inning with a bases loaded walk and an RBI single by Trey Lipsey to claim the lead, 2-1 after two innings.
The Buckeyes added another run on another bases loaded walk in the bottom of the fourth inning by Henry Kaczmar to extend the lead to 3-1. OSU then broke things open big time in the bottom of the fifth inning, plating five runs courtesy of three long range bombs from Mitchell Okuley, Ryan Miller, and Lipsey to make the score 8-1.
And that would be all Ohio State would need as the pitching staff shut things down from there while the offense added three more runs. Pitcher Jacob Morin (3-0) got the win in relief, striking out one and surrendering just one hit in 2.0 inning of work.
