The hype surrounding this Ohio State football team is off the charts, and we have been hearing the media start to get on board. Now, however, we have financial evidence that people truly believe the Buckeyes are going to win the College Football Playoff.
BetRivers Sportsbook recently shared a tweet showing that Ohio State is the most wagered on team to win the championship with 60.5% of the betting handle at +325 odds. Now there are a ton of factors to consider here, one is that the betting handle is different than the number of betting slips or people taking the action. Theoretically this could be just a few insanely rich individuals making an impact on the market, but highly unlikely.
The other factor to consider is that people making the bets might not necessarily think that the Buckeyes will win it, but the odds are too good to pass up. I also feel that this is unlikely as both Georgia and Ohio State have relatively short odds.
It looks like people are really buying into this being the season of the Buckeye.
