Ohio State offensive lineman loses black stripe

||

Black stripe alert! ‘Tis the season and we’ve got another player who has lost his black strip to become an official member of the Ohio State football team.

Quinton Burke, an offensive lineman from just outside of Columbus in Lancaster, Ohio, got the news early on Monday. Burke accepted a position with the Buckeyes as a preferred walk-on even though he had several full-ride scholarship offers from other mid-major schools. The dream of wearing the scarlet and gray was just too good to pass up.

Burke suffered a severe knee injury in the summer before his senior year with the Gales. He would miss his final year of high school football with a full ACL tear, a partially torn meniscus, and a sprained MCL. He worked hard to recover from the injuries and is living his dream of playing for the Buckeyes.

Many questioned why Burke would choose to pay to go to a place like Ohio State knowing the chance to actually play would be slim. Burke’s response “…people don’t understand what my work ethic is.” Well said… you have to love and respect an attitude like that.
