Volleyball season ends, women’s hockey sweeps Robert Morris
Women’s Volleyball
Following last weekend’s thrilling win over Kansas, Penn State fell to No. 3 Wisconsin 3-1 in the regional semifinal of the NCAA Tournament. The Badgers thoroughly dominated the match, outhitting the Lions .268 to .082 and leading 17-4 in blocks. Jess Mruzik (15 kills) and Zoe Weatherington (12 kills) were the only Penn State players to have 10 or more kills in the match. Mruzik, Gillian Grimes, and Mac Podraza all recorded at least 13 digs to pace the defense.
Women’s Hockey
The women’s hockey team swept Robert Morris last weekend, winning 2-0 and 4-1. The story of the weekend was the Lions’ defense, holding the Colonials to just 38 shots on goal across both games. Josie Bothun was sensational in net for Penn State, allowing only one goal in the series. Tessa Janecke (3 goals) and Brianna Brooks (3 goals) provided all of the scoring for the Nittany Lions.
