The Nittany Lions fall following their first setback of the season..
After a heartbreaking 23-20 loss on Saturday afternoon to the then-No. 3 Iowa Hawkeyes, the Penn State Nittany Lions saw themselves drop in this week’s AP Poll. The Nittany Lions fell from No.4 in the country to No. 7.
Ahead of the Nittany Lions are No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Iowa, No. 3 Cincinnati, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 5 Alabama, and No. 6 Ohio State. Right behind Penn State is the Michigan Wolverines at No. 8, Oregon at No. 9, and Michigan State at No. 10. It is the first time in AP Poll history that five Big Ten teams are sitting within the top 10. Similarly, in this week’s coaches poll, the Nittany Lions fell four spots from No. 4 to No. 8.
The Nittany Lions will not have the opportunity to increase their ranking on their own this week as they have a much-needed bye week. They return to action on October 23 against the Illinois Fighting Illini.
