The matchup was a lot closer than anyone had expected, but in the end, Florida basketball prevailed over the Missouri Tigers inside the O’Connell Center on Wednesday night, 83-74, to sweep the season series.
The Gators went wire-to-wire in this one but the visitors were resilient, keeping the game within striking distance until the final minute. It helped that the Orange and Blue lost its leading scorer —Walter Clayton Jr., who fouled out — with 14 minutes remaining but the home team proved to be too deep to fail.
Tyrese Samuel was the tugboat for Todd Golden’s squad, finishing with a career-high 28 points along with 10 rebounds for the double-double as well as a block and an assist. Three others finished with double digits, including Micah Handlogten, who also notched a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.
