Sixth grade Florida student analyzes Marvin Harrison Jr. for math project

||

Teachers have a hard job in today’s world. Not only are they tasked with helping prepare the next generation, but they are fighting against a million distractions vying for the attention of every kid. One teacher in the state of Florida may have found an unlikely teaching aid in Ohio State football and Marvin Harrison Jr.

Kelley Milton teaches sixth grade and gave her students an assignment to use real-life data to find the needed information. One of her students happens to be a diehard Buckeye fan and chose to use Harrison Jr’s stats to answer the question “What is the average amount of points scored by Marvin Harrison Jr. per game?”

Milton, who was probably grading papers on a Sunday evening, decided to share the student’s project on her personal Twitter account and tagged the OSU receiver in her post. Harrison then took the time to respond saying “This is awesome, keep up the work.”

I have to believe that the teacher would’ve taken the time to share the tweet with the young fan. I can only imagine a response of pure youthful joy.

And in case you’re wondering, the student decided to go with the “mean” average because in their own words “I didn’t want to neglect how much Harrison has improved over the seasons but I also wanted to include the times that Kyle McCord or C.J. Stroud didn’t give him the ball.”

Sounds like this kid is already a coach in waiting. Maybe Ohio State can hire him or her as an analytics coordinator. Either way, it’s just another example of what makes sports such a valuable part of life.
