Women’s soccer continues run in NCAA tournament, PSU football’s first Black Friday game in 40 years, and more!

The Penn State women’s soccer team advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament with a thrilling 4-3 win over Saint Louis. Payton Linnehan scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime. The Nittany Lions will play Clemson for a spot in the College Cup on Saturday.

Penn State football’s game against Michigan State is its first on Black Friday since 1982. This will be only the fifth time the Nittany Lions will play on Black Friday.

Drew Allar is expected to play in the regular season finale against Michigan State. Allar left Saturday’s game against Rutgers with an injury.

Manny Diaz was named a Broyles Award semifinalist. The award honors the best assistant coach in college football. Diaz’ defense currently ranks 4th in the FBS in scoring defense, 2nd in total defense, 2nd in sacks, and 3rd in takeaways.

The men’s hockey team won its 200th game as a varsity program on Saturday following a 5-3 win over Michigan. All 200 wins have come under coach Guy Gadowsky. The win was also Penn State’s first road win against the Wolverines since 2019.
