Nuno Tavares is not expected to play for Arsenal again after being given the green light to complete a move this month, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners are in talks to sell Tavares, 23, to Nottingham Forest as they look to offload him for a £10million+ profit.
The 2021 signing from Benfica was not in the 20-man squad for Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Forest last weekend and has slipped further to the fringes.
The fit-again Oleksandr Zinchenko, new signing Jurrien Timber, who is recovering from a serious knee injury suffered on his league debut, and Kieran Tierney are all ahead of Tavares in the pecking order at left-back as things stand.
But he impressed while on loan last season at Marseille and has interest from West Ham as well as Forest.
Arsenal want £20million for Tavares, who cost £8million when signed from Benfica two years ago.
The Portuguese defender made 28 appearances in the 2021-22 campaign – including 13 starts in the Premier League.

Tavares also suffered the ignominy of being substituted after just 35 minutes in Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round loss against Nottingham Forest.
He enjoyed a more fruitful spell in France, notching six goals across 39 appearances in all competitions for Marseille.
The left-back is under contract at the Emirates Stadium until June 2025.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Friday (18 August) that Tierney could now remain at the club after interest from Newcastle United evaporated.
Game time was been hard to come by for the Scotland international last term as a result of injury issues and the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Man City last summer (2022), a left-back who is more suited to Arteta’s style.
