Both Rob Holding and Mohamed Elneny have been ruled out of Arsenal’s next match against Burnley due to injury.
After a difficult start to the Premier League season, the Gunners’ roster is nearly back to full strength, with Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Emile Smith Rowe all healthy and ready.
Granit Xhaka, on the other hand, is serving the second game of his three-match ban – following his red card against Manchester City – and will not be joining the rest of Mikel Arteta’s squad at Turf Moor.
Holding (knee) and Elneny (hamstring) had been expected to participate, but the north London club has announced that neither player is fit to play just yet.
Rob’s right knee was heavily bruised during training ahead of the Norwich City encounter last Saturday. Rob has returned to training but will not be ready for Saturday’s encounter,’ said the club. Arsenal made the announcement on their official website.
‘Mo has worked hard with the medical staff after sustaining a hamstring injury and is expecting to be back in full training next week,’ Arsenal stated of Elneny’s health.
Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 triumph over newly-promoted Norwich at the Emirates before the international break.
With the team wallowing in 16th position in the table, Arteta will be hoping that his players take heart from the win and continue where they left off this Saturday.
After three defeats and a draw in what has been a difficult start to the season, Sean Dyche’s Burnley is two places and two points below Arsenal in 18th position.
This weekend, the Clarets will be missing Dale Stephens and Kevin Long, while Nathan Collins and Connor Roberts are doubts.
