Arsenal receive boost ahead of Manchester United clash with Ralf Rangnick dealt huge injury blow

||

Paul Pogba started Manchester United’s heavy defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday, but he had to come off after just 10 minutes with an injury.

After the game, Ralf Rangnick admitted there was a real concern Pogba wouldn’t be able to feature in either of their upcoming big-six fixtures.

“He pulled a calf muscle,” Rangnick said. “I fear he will not be available for Arsenal [on Saturday] or for Chelsea [on April 28th].”

If Pogba is even a doubt for the Chelsea game, then a return before Saturday’s visit to Arsenal seems improbable.

It’s worth mentioning that Pogba isn’t exactly the most popular player at Manchester United right now anyway.

He was booed by the fans during their game against Norwich City at the weekend, and reports suggest he’s increasingly likely to leave at the end of his contract in the summer.

But Pogba is one of those players who can make things happen on his day, even if those days are seemingly becoming increasingly infrequent.

So it would be a boost to Arsenal to see the midfielder ruled out, particularly when the Gunners are missing one of their own key midfielders in Thomas Partey.

Saturday’s game is really a must-win for the sake of Arsenal’s top-four hopes, so Mikel Arteta will take any edge he can get.
