Arsenal are considering repurchasing RB Leipzig defender Tyler Adams, but this time want him to play in the middle of the park rather than at right-back, according to reports.
Adams, a versatile 22-year-old full-back, was on Arsenal’s summer transfer wish list of potential full-backs, but the north London club ultimately decided to sign Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu instead.
However, after loaning out Ainsley Maitland-Niles, the Spaniard has admitted that his team is’very short’ in the midfield, and Arsenal have been looking into a variety of options.
The Athletic have stated that they are considering a move for the USA international, who was scouted and impressed by the Premier League giants earlier this summer.
The Londoners initially saw the American as a full-back, but now believe his future lies elsewhere, and Tyler could provide some qualities that have been lacking this season.
He possesses a level of mobility and athleticism that no other current Gunners central midfielder possesses, and he has spent the majority of his time this season with Die Roten Bullen in midfield.
He is thought to have a €36 million (£32.5 million) exit clause in his RB Leipzig contract, though Arsenal may try to negotiate a lower figure with the German club.
