Arsenal told how to seal £18million transfer for wonderkid as summer saga resurrected

Arsenal has been told that signing RB Salzburg teenager Karim Adeyemi will have to wait until the summer.

As Mikel Arteta prepares to continue his reconstruction in January, the Gunners have been connected with the wonderkid.

With Alexandre Lacazette poised to leave the Emirates at the end of the season, the north London club is hoping to add a fresh striker to their ranks.

Adeyemi, whose transfermarkt.com worth is £18 million, has emerged as a possible alternative, but Red Bull Salzburg president Harald Lurzerg insists he won’t be available until the summer.

“We are aware that Karim will most likely take the next step next summer,” he told Bild podcaster Bayern Insider.

Adeyemi acknowledges that Haaland’s meteoric rise has given him hope that he may follow in his footsteps, but he is clear that he wants to make his own path.

“Is Erling Haaland a role model?” he asked German outlet Sport 1 in an interview. That’s a difficult question to answer. However, as a player, you must keep in mind which ones are the finest at your position.

“Haaland is doing an excellent job at Borussia Dortmund; he has matured and improved in many areas.” I’ll take a bite out of that for myself. However, I cannot compare myself to Haaland and must pursue my own path.

“However, such a good player can always teach you something.”

Arteta will also have to fend off offers for his own players, with Roma reportedly rekindling their interest in Granit Xhaka.

Jose Mourinho made the Swiss international his top priority in the summer, a saga that lasted the whole transfer window.

Xhaka would wind up staying at Arsenal and signing a contract extension after a series of twists and turns.

He has since suffered an injury, but according to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are planning to re-sign the midfielder in January.

Arteta refuted suggestions that the Gunners were looking to move Xhaka after he signed his new contract in the summer.

He stated, ” “Granit will be staying with us for a while. He’s a player we hold in such high regard that he’s a vital element of our team.

“He expressed a desire to play today, and I believe it was apparent from his side that he wanted to be here.

“We didn’t want to see him go. We explained to him his role in the team, how essential he was, and how far he had progressed over the previous two seasons.

“And the fact that he has overcome adversity, as evidenced by how he has reacted and succeeded, as well as the respect he has earned not only on the field, but also in the club and in that dressing room.

“We believe he was a pivotal factor in the development of our young players, and we need more guys like him.

“It’s challenging because you don’t get to see a lot of what goes on inside.

“People simply evaluate a player’s performance or style of play to determine whether they like him more or less. However, his influence in the team and squad is undeniable from our perspective.”
