
Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a huge development, Asia Cup 2023 will be staged in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Asian Cricket Council has accepted Pakistan Cricket Board’s Hybrid model proposal after days of negotiation. The final announcement is likely to be made-on Tuesday.
Lahore’s Gadaffi Stadium will host the first four matches while Galle and Kandy will host the remaining nine-matches in Sri Lanka including the final. The 50 overs tournament will kick-start with host Pakistan taking on Nepal on September 9.
Asian Cricket Council President and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who has been in London to watch the ongoing ICC World Test Championship Final has been discussing the matter with top officials from Bangladesh Cricket Board and Sri Lanka Cricket. Mr Shah was seen with BCB President Najmul Hasan Papon and Oman Cricket Association Chairman Pankaj Khimji during Day 2 of the ICC WTC Final here at the Oval.
With the hybrid model finally being accepted for the Asia Cup 2023, roadblocks will be cleared for Pakistan cricket team to travel to India for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in October and November.
