
Xtra Time Web Desk: Australian fast bowler Scott Boland has recently turned down the opportunity to play county cricket in England so that he would be fresh heading into the World Test Championship (WTC) final and the Ashes.
34-year-old Boland impressed with his pace during the test series in India. Boland, who is the second Indigenous Australian male to play test cricket made headlines in his debut Ashes test in 2021.
In order to stay fresh and concentrate more on the one-off WTC Final against India and Ashes which will follow, Boland has decided to stay away from County cricket.
In an interview to cricket.com.au, Boland said he did have the opportunity to play county cricket this year but for him the priority was to remain fresh keeping in mind the six tests during the summer in England.
Australia face India at The Oval in the WTC final from June 7-11 before the first Ashes test From June 16 at Edgbaston.
