Bayern Munich are reportedly close to signing Sadio Mane, a transfer that could potentially make Serge Gnabry’s return to Arsenal more likely

Serge Gnabry returning to the Emirates Stadium is something that Arsenal fans are desperate to see in the summer transfer window.

The German international left the north Londoners six years ago and has gone on to establish himself as one of Europe’s best wingers, netting 64 goals and providing a further 40 assists in 171 games for the Bundesliga champions.

However, he has just over 13 months left on his contract at the Allianz Arena and recent reports have suggested that he is unlikely to sign a new deal, with the Gunners reportedly keen to bring him back if possible.

Bayern Munich reportedly wants €40m to sell Serge Gnabry this summer according to reports from Bild.

Now, according to French outlet L’Equipe, Bayern are close to agreeing a €30million (£25million) move for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, who could potentially be a direct Gnabry replacement, perhaps hinting that the 26-year-old’s future lies away from the Bavarians.

It remains to be seen if Mane will join Julian Nagelsmann’s side in the coming months but a transfer for the former Southampton star would certainly spell good news for Arsenal if they really were pursuing Gnabry.

The talented wideman had come through the academy at Hale End but was only able to muster 18 first-team appearances during Arsene Wenger’s time at the club, scoring one goal in the process.

Speaking about leaving Arsenal during an interview with Pro Direct back in 2019, he said “It was the hardest decision but I think it worked out well because I wanted to play.

“But as a club, Arsenal are top, top.”
