Copa America 2021: Angel Di Maria strike helps Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 to become champions, Messi finally wins a major title

Xtra Time Web Desk: A brilliant strike from Angel Di Maria in the 21st minute helped Argentina beat hosts Brazil to lift the Copa America 2021 final at the Maracana Stadium on Saturday night. The victory also ended Argentina’s 28 years agony of not winning a major trophy. It was a night to remember for Lionel Messi as he won first major silverware for his country. The Argentine captain was adjudged the Man of the Tournament for his brilliant display throughout the Copa America 2021. Di Maria won the Man of the Match while Emilio Martinez was adjudged the goalkeeper of the tournament.

It was Argentina who had a major ball possession and looked dangerous on counter attack led by veteran Angel Di Maria. The Paris Saint Germain winger finally found the winner for his side in the 21 st minute of the match. It was a beautiful finish from the Argentine as he found himself at the end of a beautiful ball from De Paul. The defence splitting pass allowed Di Maria to run clear of the Selecao defence and lob the ball over Ederson.

Brazil tried its best to equalize but Argentina defenders led by Nicolas Otamendi showed their composure to guide the team to its first major title since 1993.
