Former England opener faces backlash for comments against Virat Kohli’s on field behaviour

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former England opener Nick Compton on Thursday faced serious backlash after his criticism of Indian captain Virat Kohli on social media. Compton was not impressed with Virat Kohli’s on behaviour on field behaviour in the recently concluded second test at Lord’s. He dragged an incident involving him and Kohli from the series in 2012.

Compton’s tweet which is now deleted read, “Isn’t Kohli the most foul-mouthed individual? I’ll never forget the barrage of abuse I received in 2012 when the swearing stunned me to the point that he did himself a serious disservice. It highlights what a level-headed and grounded man Root, Tendulkar, Williamson et al are.” 

Kohli was at his animated best as India clinched a memorable win at Lord’s in the 2nd test vs England to take a 1-0 lead in the five match series. There were quite a few incidents where tempers flared resulting in heated exchanges between players of both sides. But it was all part of the game as both India and England played with a lot of passion.
