India tour of SL: You will see a more confident Yuzi in this series, says Chahal

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India leg spinner Yuzuvendra Chahal has announced he is feeling a lot more confident heading into the white ball series against Sri Lanka. The leg spinner has lost favour of the team management in recent times, seeing him not picked for the ODI series against England at home. He was also demoted to Grade C from Grade B in the annual contracts of BCCI.

“I’ve a couple of variations and I’m focusing on that only, not using other deliveries. You will see a more confident Yuzi in this series. I’m just working on my angles and in general trying to bowl more,” said Chahal during a virtual interaction with the media on Thursday.

Talking about the dip in his performance, Chahal said, “My performance – I don’t think it was a dip [in form] or anything,” Chahal said ahead of the Sri Lanka ODI series. “You can’t perform in every match. I will try my level best. This series is very important to me.

“My main focus at the moment is just this series – there’s been lesser cricket over the last year, but that’s not in our hands. Whatever series happens, we want to perform. After this series, my focus will be on the IPL, and only then the [T20] World Cup. Right now, I’m focusing on this tour only.”

The first ODI will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium on July 13.
