Xtra Time Web Desk: In a welcome relief for BCCI and IPL franchises, New Zealand cricketers are likely to be available for the remaining matches of the IPL 2021 in UAE. As per reports, a franchise official has confirmed that the Kiwi players have informed them about their availability during the September 19-October 15 IPL Phase 2 window. This means the likes of Kane Williamson, Kyle Jamieson, Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner, Lockie Fergusson will return for their franchises in the cash rich league.

The only worrying factor for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is New Zealand Cricket is already committed to playing Pakistan during the same window. In that case the players participating in the IPL 2021 will have to choose between national commitments and franchise league.

The BCCI has already got the confirmation from West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). The Caribbean Premier League was rescheduled so that the West Indies cricketers are available for the remaining matches of IPL 2021.

England Cricket Board has already announced officially that they will not allow their cricketers to play in the remaining part of IPL 2021. It goes to be seen whether Cricket Australia allows its players to travel to UAE for the IPL. Cricket Australia has also stayed mum on the issue.

National Selection Committee chairman Trevor Hohns had earlier said that CA is planning for a tri-series during the window. As top Australian cricketers including Pat Cummins, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell amongst others gave the West Indies and Bangladesh tour a miss, they could choose to play in the tri-series and give IPL 2021 in UAE a pass.

However, a BCCI official said he is sure that Australians will be available for the IPL.
