IPL 2023: Abishek Porel takes one handed stunner to dismiss Rohit Sharma

Xtra Time Web Desk: There were quite a few eyebrows raised when Delhi Capitals signed Bengal wicket-keeper batter Abishek Porel as a replacement for injured Rishabh Pant. Despite Sarfaraz Khan and Phil Salt in the squad, the DC management has preferred Abishek in the playing XI. On Tuesday night, he justified his selection as he took a one-handed stunner to dismiss Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma. The DC wicketkeeper gave a sheer testament of his agility and acrobatic skills to dive to his right and pull off the stunning catch.

It was the final ball of the 17th over bowled by Mustafizur Rahman. It was a wide yourker as Rohit jams his bat down on the ball. Abishek threw himself to his right to pluck the catch out of thin air. Rohit asked for a review. Ultra Edge confirmed the catch was cleanly taken by Porel. Rohit had to go back to the pavilion after scoring a brilliant 65 off 45 balls.

Abhishek’s show with the gloves was one of the bright spots in an otherwise lackadaisical performance by David Warner’s side as they suffered their third straight defeat, languishing at the bottom of points table.
