Xtra Time Web Desk: Argentine superstar Lionel Messi on Wednesday shared his excitement at the prospect of playing alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr in the Paris Saint Germain attack. Messi was officially presented as a PSG player in front of the media. The talisman also made his intentions clear to win the Champions League for a fifth time.
“To play alongside Mbappe and Neymar in attack is crazy, I’m really excited to get started,” Messi said during his first official press conference.
The Argentine footballer admitted that one of the key factors for him joining PSG was his close friend Neymar. Both Messi and Neymar was part of the famous attacking trio at Barcelona along with Luis Suarez.
“Neymar played a significant role in my arrival,” Messi admitted.
Messi has made his target very clear at his new club and that is to win a Champions League.
“My goal and my dream is to win the Champions League again. I think that we have the team to do it here,” Messi stated.
In terms of when the fans can expect him on the pitch for the French side, Messi said, “Yesterday I spoke to the coaching staff and I’ll probably have to do a pre-season on my own, and I hope it’s as soon as possible, because I’m really looking forward to getting started, so I can’t say when I’ll make my debut.”
Messi also shared his admiration for new sensation Marco Verratti.
“Verratti is one of the best in the world in his position, he was going to come [to Barcelona] and now it’s the other way around, I’m the one coming here,” he said.
Messi was also asked about the possible meeting with his former club Barcelona.
“Maybe… everyone knows the affection and love I have for the club, where I have been since I was a child. It will always be my home, and we’ll see if we meet in Europe. It would be strange to return to the Camp Nou with another shirt, but this is football and it can happen.”
“I have the desire to keep on winning, this club is ambitious, I see the coaching staff and the squad and we are ready to fight for everything. I have come here to this club to do that.
