Tyler Adams, a midfielder for RB Leipzig, is reportedly close to joining Leeds United in a £20 million transfer this summer.
On the same day that Kalvin Phillips finalised his transfer to Manchester City, Tyler Adams, an American defensive midfielder, reportedly agreed on a deal to join Leeds United, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
According to an agreement, the 23-year-old will be moving to the Whites for £20 million.
In the 2019 January transfer window, Tyler Adams transferred from sister team New York Red Bull to RB Leipzig. The 23-year-old entered their starting lineup immediately and played eight Bundesliga games before an adductor problem forced him to miss the rest of the season.
He was also sidelined for most of his second season with the club due to an adductor problem, which limited him to just 17 appearances in various competitions. Adams has played regularly for the Bundesliga club since the 2020–21 season, totalling 101 appearances.
On Monday, July 4, Phillips signed a six-year contract with Manchester City to complete his transfer. Manchester City is the current Premier League winner. The England international cost the Whites £42 million in transfer fees. Raphinha might leave Leeds during the summer transfer window, leaving them with a substantial war chest for any summer arrivals.
The West Yorkshire club and Adams have now agreed to terms for a £20 million signing. Add-ons are included in the total transfer cost, and the 23-year-personal old’s terms appear to have been reached with Leeds.
The USMNT midfielder has been eager to sign with Leeds United, where he might be a mainstay in the starting lineup.
Leeds’ management has aggressively pursued Adams because he had previously played for Marsch in New York.
Everton was also in the race to sign the defensive midfielder, but the Whites have now won the race to sign him from Leipzig. The USMNT international will soon arrive in England to undergo his medical and sign a long-term deal with Leeds United.
