Xtra Time Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni, who recently underwent a successful knee surgery has decided to take a break from cricket till January or February. Dhoni will start his rehabilitation after three weeks of rest post-surgery.
Recently CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan met Dhoni in Mumbai and enquired about his progress. According to Viswanthan, Dhoni is aware of his plans and will go ahead accordingly.
The 40-year-old cricketer played with pain on his knee throughout the IPL 2023. He was seen training with a strap on his left knee. He did not give it a second thought about skipping a single Indian Premier League game match last season and that speaks volumes on his commitment towards the game.
After winning the IPL 2023 title, Dhoni hinted that he would take the hard yards to try and play for another season in IPL as a gift to his fans.
“Looking for an answer? Circumstantially if you see this is the best time for me to announce retirement. But the amount of love and affection that I have been shown, wherever I have been this year…I think the easy thing for me to say would be to say ‘Thank you very much’, but the tough thing for me would to work hard for nine months and come back and play at least one more season of IPL. But a lot depends on the body. It would take 6-7 months to decide. It will be more like a gift from my side. It’s not easy for me but the way they have shown their love and affection, that’s something that I need to do,” Dhoni said at the post-match presentation after winning the IPL 2023 title.
