Rahul Dravid applies for the post of Head of NCA; puts an end to the speculation about replacing Ravi Shastri

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former India captain Rahul Dravid has recently applied for the post of Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). It also puts an end to the speculation that Dravid might replace Ravi Shastri as the Head Coach of the Indian team. Shastri’s tenure is coming to an end in November after the T20 World Cup in UAE.

According to reports, Dravid has told BCCI that he would like to continue in his role at NCA.  The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had recently invited applications for the position of Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after Dravid’s 2 year tenure ended.

It is also learnt that the BCCI has extended the deadline for applications for the post at NCA as there are no big names that have applied so far other than Dravid.

There has been speculation over Dravid taking up the role of the Head Coach of Indian team. But that has now been put to rest with the former India batsman making his preferences very clear.

Dravid was recently named the India coach in Sri Lanka for a limited overs series last month. After the limited overs series in Sri Lanka, Dravid had gone on record saying, “there are a lot of challenges in doing full-time roles, so I really don’t know”.

Shastri is unlikely to reapply for the post when the BCCI comes up with advertisement for the post of new coach for the next cycle.
