Jamie Carragher has tipped Arsenal to finish above Manchester United and Tottenham in the race for the top four due to the Gunners’ “togetherness” – a quality the rest of the chasing pack are lacking
Jamie Carragher has hailed Arsenal as “a better team” than Manchester United and Tottenham with the Gunners his pick to finish fourth in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta’s side saw their five-match winning streak ended by Liverpool on Wednesday evening but the north Londoners still occupy the final Champions League qualification place.
Arsenal have not featured in Europe’s most elite competition since the 2016/17 season, but Sky Sports pundit Carragher believes their “togetherness” sets them apart from the rest of the chasing pack.
“The fight for Arsenal is to get into the top four,” said Carragher, speaking after Liverpool’s 2-0 victory at the Emirates.
“Forget Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City, the results have been poor against them. It doesn’t matter what your results are like against certain teams – it’s how many points you get.
“They’re in a fight with Tottenham and they’re in a fight with West Ham and Manchester United. I think Arsenal are a better team than United and Tottenham but they’ve got individuals that can do special things like Harry Kane and Son [Heung-min] or [Cristiano] Ronaldo.

“That’s probably what they lacked tonight. [Martin] Odegaard gets that chance – Harry Kane probably puts that in or Ronaldo puts that in. But I think the team he’s set up, the togetherness, the way they play, it looks like a proper team, a well-coached team and I think they’ll just do it.”
Bottom of the table after their opening three Premier League matches, the Gunners have undergone a meteoric rise since their 5-0 humbling at Manchester City in August.
Like a silent assassin, Arsenal have risen up the division, taking 51 points from 72 available and now have a one-point buffer over Man Utd in fifth with two games still in hand.
