Xtra Time Web Desk: Following their comprehensive 7-wicket win over Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup at Pune on Thursday, the Men in Blue reached Dharamsala. Rohit Sharma and his boys will take on New Zealand at the picturesque HPCA stadium on Sunday.
Star India batter Virat Kohli was the first to come out of the airport. He was spotted wearing skins. Captain Rohit Sharma looked relaxed along with the other members of the Indian team. Mumbai boys Shardul Thakur and Suryakumar Yadav were accompanied with their wives.
The Indian team arrived at the Kangra airport on Friday afternoon. Hundreds of local fans gathered outside the airport to take a glimpse of the Indian cricketers. Each member of the Indian team was given a rose on their arrival at the Kangra airport. The local state association also decided for dhol players and fireworks as the Indian cricketers left for their team hotel.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya isn’t part of the squad traveling to Dharamshala due to an ankle injury sustained while fielding during the match against Bangladesh at Pune on Thursday. He has been officially ruled out of the NZ game. Pandya’s injury occurred in the ninth over of Bangladesh’s innings as he tried to field a ball in his follow-through, resulting in an ankle twist. Following scans, he did not play further in the match. A specialist doctor from England will oversee Hardik’s treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
As it was travelling day there was no practice and media activity of the Indian team. The Indian players will have an optional training session on Saturday evening.
