Video: Indian team coach Rahul Dravid spending quality time with the batsmen at nets ahead of the SL series

Xtra Time Web Desk: If you ask any Indian batsmen on the current tour to Sri Lanka as what has been their biggest gain so far, the collective answer will be the presence of Rahul Dravid as the coach. The former India captain and current NCA Director , who is on this tour as a coach only because of the absence of Ravi Shastri who is currently with the test team in England. Dravid has been working overtime with the batsmen on the tour, trying to get the minor flaws in technique sorted. The former India cricketer has been working with the likes of Sanju Samson, Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya and others. The players are also putting in extra hours in nets after the series against Sri Lanka was postponed due to COVID.

In a video posted by BCCI, Indian players in Sri Lanka are seen undertaking net practice sessions ahead of the first ODI contest in Colombo on July 18. The video was captioned, “Prep & More Prep, Batting Fir, Bowling, Fielding #TeamIndia in the groove for the Sri Lanka series #SLvIND as they make the most of their time in Sri Lanka ahead of the series.

A close look at the video showed Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid giving some batting tips to the likes of Sanju Samson, Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya and during the net session.

The squad played two intra squad matches among themselves so as to get a feel of the real match scenarios.  

Shikhar Dhawan led Indian side will be involved in three ODIs and three T20Is against Sri Lanka with the first ODI is rescheduled for July 18 at the R Premadasa stadium.
