Why there are doubts over Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for final two tests against Australia?

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the entire Test series against Australia. It is highly unlikely that Bumrah will be fit in time for the last two test matches of the series. According to reports he can make a comeback before IPL 2023. Bumrah’s absence in the entire test series against the Aussies will be a huge setback for Indian team management.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma too is not hundred percent sure about Bumrah’s availability. Rohit shared his doubts during the post-match presentation ceremony after the ODI series win against New Zealand. He said the team management is in constant touch with NCA and BCCI medical team regarding Bumrah.

The BCCI do not want to rush with Bumrah after he had to be pulled out ahead of the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He was initially named in the ODI squad but felt discomfort while taking an overload while bowling at the nets in Mumbai.

Since then, he is continuing rehab once again. While he recently returned to bowling at the nets at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, he is still a month away from regaining 100% match fitness.

The four-match Test series against Australia will be extremely important for Indian team as they must win the series 3-0 to qualify for the WTC Final in June. The first Test of the series starts in Nagpur on February 9.
