Former USA Crits director Scott Morris addresses SafeSport suspension
Scott Morris has addressed his SafeSport suspension and subsequent departure from the position as manager of the USA Crits series in an interview with VeloNews.
Morris recently received a temporary suspension from SafeSport, and he was then terminated from his role at USA Crits. He told VeloNews that he believes his suspension is related to a past criminal case.
“This does not involve anything current. This involves something from 15 years ago that someone sent them a press clipping of. Something that I was not found guilty of,” Morris told VeloNews. “I said I was innocent from the beginning. I have no legal restrictions against me. There are no new charges. There is no one saying I did anything to them.”
Morris was indicted on charges related to the possession of child pornography in 2008. Those charges were abandoned, and he pled guilty to computer services theft.
The reasons for his SafeSport suspension have not been made public. Dan Hill, a spokesperson for the organization, told VeloNews that SafeSport does not discuss the particulars of cases.
Morris said that he will appeal the temporary suspension.
