Iserbyt powers to a convincing World Cup win in Flamanville
Eli Iserbyt nabbed his sixth World Cup win of the season on Sunday in Flamanville, France, soloing clear of the field and taking a convincing win nearly a minute ahead of the nearest competitor.
With Tom Pidcock skipping the race and Wout van Aert having ended his ‘cross campaign, Iserbyt found the list of potential rivals decidedly shorter this weekend, and he left anyone who might have challenged him behind on the third lap. No one would catch him after that. As Iserbyt continued to add to his lead, it became clear that behind the World Cup series leader, Michael Vanthourenhout and Toon Aerts were battling for runner-up honors.
Aerts overtook Vanthourhout in the final lap but Iserbyt held on to win by an impressive 59 seconds. Aerts settled for second with Vanthourenhout nabbing third a further 13 seconds back.
