According to reports, the London giants are willing to sanction a €40 million bid for Dominik Szoboszlai, though RB Leipzig will not sell the midfielder without a fight. One of Europe’s most talented attackers, Hungary’s international is one of the best in the world.
Szoboszlai has been a part of the Red Bull system since 2018, and in 2020 he transferred from RB Salzburg to RB Leipzig. After commanding a €20 million fee, Dominik became the most expensive Hungarian footballer in history. Injury forced him to wait until this season to make his RB Leipzig debut.
But, since then, the 21-year-old attacker has made a name for himself in the Bundesliga. This season, the Hungarian attacker has seven goals and four assists across all tournaments. Because of his recent form, he has resurfaced on the Gunners’ radar.
After expressing interest in the Hungarian while at RB Salzburg, the Spanish manager has returned his attention to him. Dominik’s contract includes a €60 million release clause, according to reports. The Gunners, on the other hand, are said to believe a bid of nearly €40 million is more appropriate.
An offer like this is unlikely to arrive until next summer at the earliest. Indeed, the Gunners appear to have set the summer of 2022 as the time to increase their interest. Dominik is said to be ‘keen’ on a move to the Premier League, though convincing RB Leipzig to sell will be difficult.
Leipzig is hesitant to enter into negotiations for a player who was only recently signed. Only time will tell if waiting until next summer will soften their stance. Regardless, if Dominik continues to improve throughout the season, the Gunners’ proposed €40 million offer may quickly become insufficient.
