Arsenal’s revival has come to a halt after an eight-game unbeaten run. The Gunners have now lost three of their last four Premier League matches.
Late goals from Richarlison and Demarai Gray completed a stunning turnaround for out-of-form Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night, bringing the Gunners unstuck once more.
Summer signing Martin Odegaard’s great personal record continued as he scored for the second game in a row, but it wasn’t enough as Arsenal’s latest setback emphasized their need for reinforcements in January.
With the futures of front duo Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah still up in the air, as well as rumors surrounding the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Gunners are expected to spend big in the New Year.
Arsenal could be prepared for further movement when the transfer window starts in less than a month, following a busy summer of spending.
As January approaches, Football Audit gives you all the latest on Arsenal’s prospective incomings, with a new striker very much on the cards.
Martinez

Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez is one name that has been linked with a move to Arsenal.
Spurs were said to be interested in signing him in the summer, but it looks like the Argentine will end up on the red side of the north London divide.
Martinez is very much on the radar, according to in-the-know journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims the Gunners are planning to recruit an “important striker” in the near future.
“Arsenal’s objective, from what I’m informed, is to sign an important striker in the coming months,” Romano said on his Here We Go podcast. Let’s see if it’ll be the beginning of January or the middle of the summer.
“They were interested in Lautaro Martinez, but Inter told them to hold off until the summer.”
Despite failing to score in any of Inter’s six Champions League group games, the 24-year-old has been in excellent form at home, scoring eight times in 14 Serie A outings this season.
Richarlison

Perhaps a guy from closer to home, who just put Arsenal to the sword on Monday night, is the answer to Arsenal’s forward conundrum.
Richarlison scored Everton’s equalizer after two strikes were ruled out by VAR, and he is said to be a fan of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.
According to Fichajes, as the search for a successor to Lacazette and Aubameyang heats up, the Spaniard is anxious to bring Richarlison to the Emirates.
Everton are a “club that is too small” for the Brazilian forward, who joined the Toffees from Watford in 2018 for an initial £35 million price, according to the Spanish site, although a summer move appears more plausible.
Arsenal isn’t the only team rumored to be interested in his talents; Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are all keeping tabs on him.
David

While Arsenal may have to wait until the summer to sign either Martinez or Richarlison, Jonathan David is one player who might join Arteta’s side sooner.
So far this season, the Canadian forward has 14 goals in 24 appearances for Lille, with his most recent strike coming in the French side’s 3-1 Champions League victory over Wolfsburg on Wednesday night.
Arsenal’s chances of signing the 21-year-old – who they have been scouting for a long time – have suffered a setback with Lille earning top spot and securing European football for the New Year.
If that wasn’t enough, Lille president Olivier Letang is said to have slapped a hefty price tag on his prized possessions in order to deter suitors from making January approaches for the highly-rated striker.
Letang is asking a £47 million fee for the forward, according to Jeunes Footeux, who is also receiving interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.
Given their history with Lille, the Gunners may have a slight advantage in their pursuit of David, having recently signed Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel from the reigning French champions.
