Lionel Messi detained at Beijing airport over passport issue

Xtra Time Web Desk : On Thursday, Argentina will play an international friendly match against Australia. Lionel Messi, Argentina’s superstar, skipped training to fly on a private jet with friends and security personnel to reach the destination. However, Messi encountered a problem there.

According to reports, Messi was detained at the border control of Beijing International Airport. The reason behind this was that Messi had swapped his Argentine passport for a Spanish one.

Messi had intended to travel to Taiwan with the help of his Spanish passport. Local news agency reports from China mentioned that Messi was asked at the airport, “Isn’t Taiwan part of China?”

Due to the incorrect passport, Messi had to wait for two hours at the airport. Afterward, he was granted permission to proceed using a special visa.
